2018 National Night Out

The National Night Out - 2018 in Owings Mills was a huge success.  Volunteers from OMVFCo attended the annual community building campaign that promotes making neighborhoods safer and a more caring place to live.

Dozens of businesses and organizations from around Owings Mills attended the event in Central Park in New Town.


Just before 9pm on July 5th, Engine 312, Truck 313 and Medic 315 responded to a motor vehicle collision with entrapment at Reisterstown Road and Gwynnbrook Ave. Crews assisted patients out of the vehicles and provided medical care until additional medic units from Franklin Station and the Reisterstown VFCo arrived to transport the other injured parties to local hospitals. Truck 313 Responds to Rescue

Just before 10:30pm last night, Truck 313 responded to the report of a car accident with rescue in the Chestnut Ridge area of Owings Mills.  The 911 caller stated that a vehicle struck a pole and went off the road in the 11600 block of Greenspring Avenue.  The crew of Truck 313 assisted units with removing the patients from the vehicle and with patient care.

High Winds Bring High Call Volume to Station 31

The last 24 hours have been extremely busy for all units in Baltimore County.  And the volunteers at OMVFCo have experienced a high amount of emergency calls.  Crews from station 31 have responded to approximately 20 calls since the wind storm began, most of which have been weather related.  These have included several reports of downed trees and electrical wires.  Below are photos from some of these incidents. 

Wednesday Afternoon Overturned Vehicle on Reisterstown Road

On February 7th, 2018, just before 1:30pm, units from OMVFCo, Garrison, Glydon, and Reisterstown were alerted for a possible motor vehicle crash with rescue.  Callers to 911 stated that a vehicle had flipped over and that someone was trapped, near the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Pleasant Hill Road.

The patient was extricated and transported to a local hospital for treatment.


Owings Mills Townhouse Fire

Just after 1:00pm on Friday, December 15, 2017, units from OMVFCo, Garrison, Franklin, Glyndon, Chestnut Ridge, and others, were alerted for a townhouse fire on Gwynnswood Road in Owings Mills.  First arriving units found smoke and fire coming from the 2nd story and roof.  A working fire assignment was quickly dispatched, and crews remained on the scene for 3+ hours.

Saying Goodbye to FF/EMT Jon Hickey

On November 30, 2017, EMT/FF Jon Michael Hickey tragically lost his life.  Jon was a member of OMVFCo from 09/26/2011 - 01/30/2017.  Several members from OMVFCo attended his funeral on December 7th.

At the request of the Hickey family, Jon’s memorial service was recorded.  We understand that a lot of Jon’s friends and colleagues are in the fire department and may not have been able to attend his funeral due to work.

December 7th Fatal Crash on Painters Mill Road

On December 7, 2017, just before 5:30pm, units from OMVFCo and surrounding stations were alerted for a serious car crash at the intersections off Painters Mill Road at Grand Central Avenue. Truck 313, Engine 312, and Ambulance 315 responded.  

After an investigation, Baltimore County Police released the following information:

"... police responded to the location after a 2003 Ford Taurus struck a concrete median while traveling southbound on Painters Mill Road. After hitting the median, the Ford continued into a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am which was traveling on Grand Central Avenue. The driver of the Grand Am was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as Charles Layne Taylor, 54, of the unit-block of Byers Court, 21133. Crash investigators are continuing their inquiry into the crash at this time."
